Make Money Your Friend, Instead of Your Master

Dr. Trachtman has written a splendid book about the relationship between money and happiness. It is filled with numerous anecdotes and illustrative examples, many thought-provoking exercises, as well as extremely practical advice that you wish you had received years ago. Written in a clear and readable style, Money and the Pursuit of Happiness: In Good Times and Bad covers a wide spectrum of relevant topics ranging from "Your Money Personality" and "Can Money Buy Happiness?" to "Love and Work" and "Work, Money and Self-regard." This book is filled with the kind of excellent suggestions you would be lucky to find if the person who advised you about your money was both a knowledgeable financial counselor and a highly skilled therapist. Wordsworth is still right!

Three centuries after the poet warned us, Dr. Richard Trachtman proves we're still wasting our powers by getting and spending. This easy-to-read down-to-earth volume is a must for all materialistic humans (and that's most of us) who think money provides the only route to happiness.
Dr. Trachtman uses case histories he's amassed as a psychotherapist to show how our obsession with money as an end in itself creates severe psychological and sociological problems. And he does it without resorting to psycho-babble.
He also provides sound advice on how to get on the right track to true happiness.
You owe it to yourself--and to all those important to you--to add this one to your library.

A Must Read!

Dr. Trachtman's book is both an ageless and timely edition to the world of self help books available. His wit and wisdom in this ever important arena is in a easily read format with many great real life examples that most people will be able to relate to. Except for the Dalai Lama, I think everyone would benefit from this realistic look at the relationship between money and happiness. I especially recommend giving this book as required reading to college age students and all young adults. I have three young adult sons whom will benefit from reading this if I can only put it in text message form!!
